In the videos circulating online, Obi distanced himself from personal attacks and stressed respect for leaders across party lines.
He described figures such as David Mark, Rotimi Amaechi, Rauf Aregbesola, John Oyegun, and Rabiu Kwankwaso as colleagues and elder brothers, insisting he would not speak ill of them.
“People are trying to provoke me into making negative statements to hurt the PO brand, but I’m not going to say anything bad about them,” Obi said in one clip.
The Presidency, through spokesman Bayo Onanuga, accused Obi of political desperation and inconsistency, claiming he had abandoned earlier positions for convenience.
Onanuga said Obi was now “willing to associate with anyone, including those he had previously pilloried,” and argued that his shifting positions undermine confidence in his leadership.
“He certainly lacks the character of a reliable political leader. No one can be sure where he stands on any issue. He shifts with the wind and the trends on X,” Onanuga said, adding that Obi’s comments amounted to a betrayal of his supporters.
Previously, Obi had denied encouraging members of the Obidient Movement to insult opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the 2027 elections.
He reiterated that personal attacks were not part of his approach.

The resurfaced videos have sparked renewed debate about Obi’s political positioning and his relationships with senior figures across Nigeria’s political landscape.
