Sam Amadi Issues Cautionary Advice to ADC Aspirant

Sam Amadi ADC warning as ex-NERC chairman urges alternative plan for 2027 ballot amid alleged plot to proscribe opposition party

Former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Sam Amadi, has advised a leading presidential aspirant within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to activate an alternative political strategy ahead of the 2027 elections, warning that the party may face legal and institutional challenges.

Sam Amadi made the remarks in a post shared on X on Tuesday, where he also alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) could be considering moves that may affect the survival of the ADC ahead of the next general election.

The ADC, which has recently become a platform for opposition figures seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027, has been embroiled in internal leadership disputes in recent months.

Amadi suggested that the ongoing crisis within the party could escalate, warning that regulatory and judicial actions might be used to weaken or potentially proscribe the party before the next election cycle.

“A few days before INEC came with its sledge hammer a lady who knows the workings of INEC told me that the government would try and use the court to proscribe ADC,” he wrote, without providing evidence for the claim.

He further urged that contingency plans be considered urgently, insisting that political uncertainty surrounding the party could affect electoral ambitions.

“If there is a Plan B put it in motion now if you want to be on the ballot,” Amadi added, while also alleging political anxiety within the ruling party regarding key opposition figures.

The comments come amid heightened political positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition parties still attempting to consolidate alliances and resolve internal disputes.

There has been no official response from the APC, INEC, or relevant judicial authorities regarding the allegations.
