House of Representatives Member Philip Agbese Defects from APC in Dramatic Move

Philip Agbese defects from APC to Labour Party, citing a higher call to serve and a commitment to inclusiveness and party rebuilding

Philip Agbese, Member representing Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in Benue State and Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, on Tuesday announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress and defection to the Labour Party in a notable political development.

Philip Agbese disclosed the decision in a statement shared via his official Facebook page, where he said his move was driven by what he described as a higher call to serve his people with sincerity, humility and commitment.

The lawmaker stated that the Labour Party provides a platform through which he intends to further his public service objectives.

He added that he had been warmly received by his colleagues in the House of Representatives who are members of the Labour Party from across the country.

Philip Agbese described the party as a cohesive political family, noting its inclusive structure where members from different backgrounds operate under a shared vision.

In his remarks, Philip Agbese referenced the leadership of the Labour Party’s National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, stating that her guidance reflects an exemplary leadership approach that aligns with his political values.

He expressed appreciation for being part of what he called a modest assembly of patriots committed to national progress.

The lawmaker acknowledged his position as a prominent political office holder from Benue State, emphasising the responsibility that comes with helping to rebuild and strengthen the party.

He noted that his role would involve contributing to efforts aimed at positioning the Labour Party for broader electoral success.

He underscored that both new and existing members have vital roles to play in building a stronger and more united political platform.
