The announcement followed a high-level stakeholders’ meeting convened by Governor Otu at the Calabar International Convention Centre on Monday, which brought together party executives, lawmakers, youth and women groups, and other key figures.
Addressing attendees, Otu appealed to President Tinubu to support the reclamation of Cross River’s oil wells and restore its full littoral status.
He also called for verification of reservoir coordinates and technical reports to substantiate the state’s claim to oil-producing status, alongside the restoration and increase of federal appointments for indigenes to enhance grassroots mobilisation.
Otu reaffirmed Cross River’s alignment with Tinubu’s policies, highlighting ongoing federal collaborations that have boosted infrastructure development, including the Calabar-Lagos Coastal Highway.
He described the gathering as an opportunity to appreciate party faithful and prepare for a decisive victory in the 2027 elections.
The former APC National Women Leader and current Minister, Dr Betta Edu, commended efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, inclusive engagement, and voter education.
She also backed the governor’s call for federal intervention to restore Cross River’s economic standing and oil-producing recognition following the discovery of over 100 wells in the state’s estuary.
Senators and members of the House of Representatives representing Cross River State pledged to consolidate mobilisation across their constituencies.
The stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to delivering what they described as a decisive electoral mandate for President Tinubu and Governor Otu’s second-term bid, echoing the party’s position since May 2025.
Earlier on Monday, Otu stressed that Cross River deserves fair treatment in the ongoing process of relisting it as an oil-producing state.
