Adamawa lawmaker Jauro election appeal dismissed as Court of Appeal affirms his victory and rejects PDP challenge over alleged over-voting
The Court of Appeal sitting in Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria, on Monday, March 30, 2026, affirmed the election of Honourable Misa Musa Jauro as the member representing Ganye Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, dismissing an appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Buba Mohammed Joda, in a decisive ruling that ends a prolonged legal dispute.

The Adamawa lawmaker Jauro election appeal centred on allegations of over-voting raised by the PDP candidate, who had challenged the outcome of the August 2025 Ganye Assembly by-election.
Jauro, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, was earlier declared the winner of the poll.
In its judgment, the appellate court upheld the decision of the Election Petition Tribunal in Yola, which had on February 4 struck out the petition against the APC lawmaker.
Justice Patricia Ajuma Mahmoud, delivering the ruling, dismissed the appeal for lacking merit and awarded the sum of N3 million against the appellants.
The court’s verdict brings finality to what had become a protracted legal battle over the legislative seat, reinforcing the tribunal’s earlier position and confirming Jauro’s mandate.
The ruling is widely viewed as a significant moment in the constituency’s political landscape, as it settles lingering uncertainties surrounding representation at the state assembly.
It also underscores the judiciary’s role in resolving electoral disputes and upholding the integrity of democratic processes.
