Speaking before the Federal Executive Council convened its first session since July, the President declared, “We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism.” The closed-door meeting, held at the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, underscored the government’s renewed focus on security and global cooperation.
His comments followed recent tensions sparked by former U.S. President Donald Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” — a move the Federal Government has strongly dismissed as a misrepresentation of the nation’s security reality.
Tinubu emphasised that his administration is engaging the international community to foster stability, security, and economic progress. He cited the success of Nigeria’s oversubscribed $2.3bn Eurobond as a powerful indicator of international confidence in the nation’s economic trajectory.
“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners,” he stated, assuring citizens that Nigeria remains united and resolute in its pursuit of peace and prosperity.
The President also commended his cabinet members for their dedication to his Renewed Hope Agenda, urging unity, purpose, and discipline in implementing reforms designed to strengthen the nation’s institutions and security framework.
