Tinubu new ministers sworn in amid cabinet reshuffle

Tinubu new ministers, Bernard Doro and Kingsley Udeh, sworn in to restore Plateau and Enugu representation amid cabinet reshuffle.

Tinubu new ministers have officially joined the Federal Executive Council after President Bola Tinubu administered the oath of office to Dr Bernard Doro and Dr Kingsley Udeh on Thursday afternoon.

The brief ceremony, held inside the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja at 1:52 p.m., preceded the first Federal Executive Council meeting since July 2025. Their appointments restore ministerial representation for Plateau and Enugu states, both of which had lacked cabinet presence for several weeks.

Dr Bernard Doro, a UK-trained clinician and accomplished pharmaceutical and public health administrator, replaces Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, who vacated his post after emerging as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress on July 31.

Hailing from Kwall in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Doro brings more than two decades of experience spanning clinical medicine, pharmacy, and health-sector innovation. According to the Presidency, he holds degrees in Pharmacy, Law, and Advanced Clinical Practice and has served extensively within the UK’s National Health Service — experience observers say could inject renewed energy into Nigeria’s humanitarian and poverty reduction efforts.

Meanwhile, Dr Kingsley Udeh, formerly the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State, replaces Uche Nnaji, who resigned as Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology in early October amid controversy over his academic credentials. Udeh, recently elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was confirmed by the Senate on November 4 following his nomination by President Tinubu.

Their induction brings the total number of ministers in Tinubu’s cabinet to 48. Shortly after the swearing-in, the President chaired the FEC meeting, during which the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Finance Minister, Wale Edun, reported that Nigeria’s $2.35bn Eurobond was oversubscribed by 453 per cent, drawing strong investor confidence.

Edun said the next phase of economic reforms would focus on removing barriers to investment, reviewing tariffs, and strengthening fiscal transparency. He added that ongoing assessments of national assets aim to ensure sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

President Tinubu commended the economic team’s progress and urged the newly sworn-in ministers to align with his Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasising unity, diligence, and measurable results. He reiterated his administration’s resolve to defeat terrorism and build a peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous Nigeria.
